Serving on the OPCA Board of Directors

Serving on the OPCA Board of Directors or as a Member-at-Large is an opportunity to help guide the association’s direction and support the continued advancement of pest management in Oregon. Board service plays a critical role in shaping OPCA’s programs, priorities, and advocacy efforts while ensuring the association remains responsive to the needs of its members and the industry.

Eligibility & Commitment

  • Only Active Member firms in good standing are eligible to serve on the Board of Directors.

  • Board service is a one-year commitment, running from July 1 through June 30 of the following year.

  • Board members serve without compensation and are expected to actively participate in meetings, discussions, and decision-making throughout their term.

The Board of Directors is responsible for managing the affairs, property, and funds of the Association, approving budgets, supporting committees, and ensuring OPCA fulfills its mission and objectives.

Officers & Members-at-Large

The Board is composed of:

  • Elected Officers (President, First Vice-President, Second Vice-President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Past President)

  • Members-at-Large, who serve as full voting members of the Board but do not hold officer positions.

Officer roles follow a structured leadership progression, allowing individuals to gain experience and continuity as they move through leadership positions over multiple years.

Voting & Elections

  • Each Active Member company is entitled to one vote, cast by the designated company representative or registered alternate.

  • Voting may occur in person or by proxy, in accordance with OPCA bylaws.

  • Members are asked to vote for one (1) candidate per officer position.

  • Write-in candidates are permitted for most positions, with the exception of Past President.

Elections take place at the Annual Meeting, and newly elected officers and Members-at-Large assume their roles at the start of the new membership year.

Why Serve?

Board service offers a meaningful way to:

  • Influence the future of the pest management industry in Oregon

  • Strengthen leadership, governance, and collaboration skills

  • Represent fellow professionals and contribute to informed, balanced decision-making

  • Support OPCA’s mission of education, advocacy, and industry advancement
